Searching for information about the Murrayfield bag policy?
Murrayfield Stadium has announced a new ‘small bags only’ policy for international matches. Any bags over the size of A5 are not permitted into the stadium.
The exceptions to this new policy at BT Murrayfield are ticket holders who require bags for health or childcare reasons. Ticket holders with such requirements are asked to contact Scottish Rugby in advance by calling 0131 346 5160 or e-mailing ticket.centre@rsu.org.uk.
Scottish Rugby has announced that this policy change is not in response to specific threats. The policy change is simply part of the stadium’s on-going review of security and to ensure that every ticket holder has a safe and enjoyable visit to Murrayfield.
Without bags, and therefore bag searches, ticket holders will be able to enter the stadium far more quickly – leaving you free to enjoy your day! Less time queueing, more time soaking up the atmosphere.
Murrayfield Bag Policy
Murrayfield Stadium has a strict bag policy in place for security reasons. Visitors are strongly advised not to bring bags to the stadium if possible. However, anyone who has a requirement to do so (for example medical/childcare reasons/highland dress sporrans) should go to a designated search lane where bags will be searched and tagged prior to entry into the stadium.
Bags larger than A4 size (21cm x 30cm) will not be permitted into the stadium unless required for medical or childcare reasons.
Please note that there is no bag storage facility at the stadium, so spectators are urged to only bring such limited and necessary possessions as they can keep on their person.
Prohibited items:
- Knives, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items
- Banners or flags with slogans which are offensive, abusive or of a racist, homophobic or discriminatory nature
- Animals other than guide or assistance dogs
- Golf or large umbrellas
- Cameras that do not fit comfortably in the pocket/handbag
- Tripods, selfie sticks, I-pads
Tips for attending Murrayfield Stadium without a bag:
- Bring only the essentials, such as your phone, wallet, keys, and tickets.
- Wear a jacket or coat with pockets where you can store your belongings.
- If you need to bring a medical or childcare bag, be sure to contact Scottish Rugby in advance to let them know.
