Searching for information about the LA Coliseum bag policy? Read on to learn what items you can and can’t bring to “The Greatest Stadium in the World,” and other temporary bag and luggage storage options around Los Angeles.

About LA Coliseum

Commissioned in 1921 and finished just two years later, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was built in honor of the U.S. Armed Forces that served in World War I. The stadium sits just south of the University of Southern California in the Exposition Park neighborhood, and is home to the USC Trojans football team. Currently, the NFL’s LA Rams also play there, while awaiting their new stadium in Inglewood, having originally played there from 1946-1979. Along with the Rams, it was also once home to the NBA Lakers the MLB’s LA Dodgers.

Frequently used in film and television, the stadium has been graced with the presence of world leaders like Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama as well as rock & roll legends like Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead. The 1959 World Series was held there, along with the 1932 Summer Olympic Games, which were held there again in 1984 when it was declared a National Historic Landmark. In 2028, it will be the first location worldwide to have hosted the Summer Games three times.

After recent renovations, the Coliseum now has a capacity to seat 77,500 fans plus luxury boxes and suites.

LA Coliseum Bag Policy

As of August 2016, the LA Coliseum has what’s known as a “Clear Bag Policy,” meaning they only allow transparent bags, and those only in specific sizes. Each guest is permitted a clear tote bag made of plastic, vinyl or PVC not to exceed 12″x12″x12″ in dimensions and a single zip-locking bag of up to one gallon. No backpacks, coolers, briefcases, or even fanny packs are permitted beyond the gates.

The policy also clearly prohibits computer bags, camera bags, and “luggage of any kind” – not exactly traveler-friendly. Wallets and other normal items (phone, keys, credit cards) are of course permitted but must be kept in your pockets. Those who wish may carry a hand-size clutch bag or wristlet, but no actual purses, handbags, or pocketbooks.

Large seat cushions are also off-limits, although you are allowed to carry a jacket or bring a blanket for use during the game. However, the stadium discourages visitors from bringing extraneous personal effects both for security, and to make the screening and entry process easier for everyone.
